This body of work mixes patterning, lines, and shape against fields of static color. Armature contours suspend familiar figurative orientation, creating relationships between elements that suggest movement. Teetering between figure and ground, the works traverse the fault-line between representation and abstraction. Rather than creating from direct observation, I am much more interested in creating work out of adverse photographic references that are loaded and open to lyrical interpretation. -
