Zitkala-Ša (1876–1938)  was a Sioux writer, editor, musician, teacher, and political activist. Her essays, "Impressions of an Indian Childhood," "The School Days of an Indian Girl," and "An Indian Teacher among Indians," were originally serialized in the Atlantic Monthly in January, February, and March of 1900.
